The contaminant-free methane stream (B) can be used as medium Btu fuel gas or as feedstock for fuel cell and chemical synthesis, e.g. methanol or hydrogen.

Alternatively, it can be further processed to separate CO2 from methane to produce pipeline methane.

With additional polishing and refrigeration landfill gas methane can be recovered as LNG.
